Decision No. 290 of 2024 Concerning the Approval of Allocating Property for the Embassy of United States

Decision No. 290 of 2024 approves allocating 20,000 sq. meters in Janzour for the U.S. Embassy, effective June 24, 2024.

Council of Ministers,

After Reviewing:

  • The Constitutional Declaration issued on August 3, 2011, and its amendments.
  • The Libyan Political Agreement signed on December 17, 2015.
  • The outcomes of the Libyan Dialogue Forum held on November 19, 2020.
  • Law No. 3 of 2001 concerning urban planning and its executive regulations.
  • Law No. 116 of 1972 concerning urban development.
  • The decision of the Libyan House of Representatives was held on March 10, 2021, in the city of Sirte.
  • The letter from the Chairman of the State Property Authority No. 203 dated May 3, 2024.
  • The letter from the Director General of the Council of Ministers Affairs No. 10619 dated June 13, 2024.
  • The decision of the Council of Ministers in its regular meeting No. 2 of 2024.

The Council of Ministers has decided the following:

Article 1

Approval is granted for the allocation of the property located in the Janzour Municipality, covering an area of 20,000 square meters, included in Approval Certificate No. 16581, in favor of the United States Embassy in Libya. The boundaries of the allocated property are:

  • North: The Mediterranean Sea
  • South: Paved Road
  • East: The Libyan State, remaining part of Approval Certificate No. 16581
  • West: The Libyan State

A layout diagram of the property is to be attached.

Article 2

The State Property Authority and the Land Registry Authority are tasked with taking the necessary measures to complete the implementation of this decision in accordance with the prevailing legislation.

Article 3

This decision shall be effective from the date of its issuance, and all relevant authorities are required to implement it.
